José Joaquín is a civil engineer from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (1994) and was a scholar in the program University-Enterprise from Universidad de Los Andes, where he obtained his master’s degree in environmental engineering.In 1996 he traveled to England to study for a master’s degree in road engineering and earned his doctorate in 2000, both at the University of Birmingham.
In England, José Joaquín began his professional career at the British consulting firm ATKINS. In 2007, he returned to Colombia to work at Joyco, founded by his father. He was in General Management for 12 years.Motivated by strengthening his company’s corporate governance, today he is the Chairman of the Board of Directors. Currently, he is a member of the board of directors of Camara Colombiana de la Infraestructura and Fundación Acres, as well as dean of the Business Practice faculty of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (Fidic).Dolphins are smart and agile and like to interact with humans.
Since April 2023, José Joaquín Ortiz holds office for a term of one year as a co-opted board member at Fidic’s Board.
