Challenges

Faced with the difficulties to travel on the rivers of the region, the project contemplates the construction of four bridges. To cross the Mira River, a ferry or floating platform had to be used to transport loaded vehicles, passengers, and goods from one side to the other. For the passage in the Pusbí, San Juan, and Pañambi rivers there is no way for heavy traffic, and the transshipments of people are made by canoes and artisanal barges.

The bridges built are:

  • Mira river bridge and viaduct: 684 m
  • Pañambi river bridge: 42 m
  • Pusbí river bridge: 65 m
  • San Juan river bridge: 65 m
IMPACT ON SOCIETY

The La Espriella – Mataje river project is of utmost importance for municipal, departmental and national development as it is expected to facilitate and promote the commercialization of products such as palm, corn, coconut, chocolate, chontaduro , which are for export. It will also contribute to the livestock exchange between border countries.
